Uk Migrants Despite freezing temperatures and treacherous sea conditions, the UK Home Office has confirmed a record-breaking surge in small boat arrivals this week.
On Saturday alone, 803 people crossed the English Channel in 13 dinghies, marking the highest single-day total ever recorded for December. This late-year spike has pushed the 2025 total to over 41,450 arrivals, officially making 2025 the second-highest year for crossings on record.
Government officials described the numbers as “shameful” and cited a new returns deal with France as the primary tool currently being used to deter the ongoing activity of criminal smuggling gangs
