illegal working : The Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act 2025 has officially expanded the UK’s “illegal working” regime to include the gig economy and supply chains.

As of this month, companies using self-employed contractors, delivery riders, or platform-based workers must ensure rigorous right-to-work checks.

Penalties for breaches have soared to £60,000 per worker. This move aims to close loopholes used by “hidden” labor markets and ensures that all sectors of the economy remain compliant with the UK’s tightening immigration standards.
